About Spinachdaddy

Hi guys! I’m Hallie, the girl behind Spinach Daddy. People are often caught off-guard by the username I’ve chosen to apply to a majority of my social media, and now, this site. You either appreciate or cringe at the humor behind it. A play on words of the common “sugar daddy” phrase, not the candy that you throw away anytime it resurrects itself in your tricker treating bag.

I’m 19, currently figuring my way through college. In the Spring of 2019 I’ll be living on a campus right in the heart of D.C. (if Tenleytown qualifies). At the moment I’m home attending –dunh dunh dunnhhh community college. I know, it’s a hard pill to swallow. I began my college career at the beautiful UT Austin, in well, Austin. The mecca for all things Hallie Sharpless, I, love. Food, city, Whole Foods (ahem, Whole Foods’ flagship), dogs, trendsetting cafes- stop me in about two hours. But when reality set in, I realized the 4 years of science classes necessary to achieve a nutrition degree was not what I wanted to do. I wanted to be a business major and alas, McCombs was just too picky about those they let in (aka, I didn’t have a 4.0 and probably never will).

But here we are, in suburban Maryland. Community college is lonely, but what it lacks in structure and a social scene it makes up for in time. Easy-ish classes mean more time to express myself through food, color, and ultimately the camera (the one I have basically no idea how to use).

My focus tends towards creating meals made from mostly whole food ingredients, heavy on the produce, light on anything processed. Baking is my favorite at the moment, but I’ll see where this goes. I’ll update you when I learn how to cook anything besides eggs for savory meals.
